The requested shared facility/resource/instrument will integrate a range of instruments, services and expertise, that are crucial to carry out the proposed research. This new _________ will be driven by emerging research requirements and directions, facilitate cross-fertilization of knowledge and technologies, and offer a broad spectrum of services and capabilities, that are not yet available on campus. Operating this new facility will afford researchers easy access to a state of the art infrastructure, extra flexibility and fast turnaround. The anticipated growth in this research area in the near future will bring about increasing needs and this facility will be designed to meet them. A shared-use _______facility will enable the users to accelerate ongoing efforts while exploring together new avenues for cutting edge research.

Dr. _________ the PI, will work closely with the other major users and the Advisory Board members. Dr. __________ has many years of __________ research experience and he/she will offer guidance and insights regarding the strategic development of this integrated facility. The major users and the other users identified in the proposal will be allocated ___% of the instruments’ time; the remaining ___% of the time will be allocated to recruiting and training new users entering the field and/or for specific technology introductions. There will be a special effort to recruit and train new users through joint projects, seminars, meetings, tours, open house events, web-based communications and other interactions. Users will acknowledge in their publications the use of the resources provided by this award.

An Advisory Committee will work with the PI and major users on the facility development and management, aiming to sustain a high and unified level of services and support across the integrated components. Initial membership will include: _________ (4-5 members or as required).

The facility operation and overall performance will be reviewed using indicators such as number of users, extent of usage, users’ feedback, resulting publications, funding across projects, and other means. Outcomes will drive future development goals and directions.
